“The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity.”

Benjamin Franklin

The overwhelming majority of fundraising programs utilize volunteers to bolster their efforts, but they don’t approach this important component of the fundraising program as they do other components. This program will examine how we don’t capitalize on our volunteers because they are not integrated into our fundraising strategically. In annual planning our organizations fundraising mailings, events, major gifts are assessed and analyzed, then tweaked for the coming year. Our volunteer programs often go without the same analysis and critical thinking. How do we move our volunteer programs forward? How can doing this help in “firing” or turning down well-meaning volunteers?
